Black & White

During a solar eclipse in the Path of Totality, the temperature drops significantly and the light dims to 30 lumens. Not complete darkness but close to an astronomical twilight. You can make out big shapes, ridge lines and the quiet details of the landscape. The blinding glints of brilliant light from around the moons edge shines like a diamond. The sensations of black/white, light/shadow and the cooling/warming sensations felt during totality spurred a new series of paintings in 2018 after the last eclipse I experienced over Wyoming.
