Eclipse

An eclipse serves as a metaphor for the transient nature of light. The darkening of the landscape echoes the experience of twilight during an eclipse, a moment when colors deepen and shadows elongate. This phenomenon heightens the geological contrasts of the scene, drawing attention to the rugged textures of rock formations.

The Eclipse series allows for an exploration of how darkness reveals the hidden layers of the landscape, much like an eclipse reveals the unseen aspects of the sun. Capturing the sensations of light and shadow and the cooling and warming sensations felt during Totality. Prismatic color is the least featured element in all of these works.

Through the lens of an eclipse, the paintings invite contemplation not only on the beauty of the American West but also on the delicate balance and interconnectedness of its ecosystems and our place within it.
